The wedding!!!

Here are a few pics and a story for you.
Matt and I got married on October 16.  The night before the wedding, we agreed that we’d sleep separetely.  So Matt went to his parents’ condo and I stayed at the Westin with my bridesmaids.  Two of my old friends from Cal Poly also came over to hang out for a while.  We had the best time talking, laughing, and reliving old times.  At 10 pm we called it a night.  (I know… we felt really old when we realized what time it was.)  Ben and John left and we girls started getting ready for bed.  The guys were gone for maybe 2 minutes when I got a call from Ben.  “Gail, your neighbor came out and said you are being too loud.”  Opps.  We had heard a loud thump on the wall about half an hour earlier while John was in the bathroom.  We though maybe he had fallen in the bathroom and just laughed about it.

After that, I got into the shower.  When I got out, the girls told me that security came to the door and said there was a noise violation.  I couldn’t believe it!  I told the girls, we had to go to sleep so we wouldn’t be kicked out and homeless the night before my wedding.  I had to get my beauty sleep, lol…

So we woke up at  8 am and went downstairs for breakfast.  When we got back, our hairdresser/makeup lady was at the room.  So… the beauty prep begins.

Here’s Michelle getting her makeup done.  Our hairdresser Regina is a crackup and she did a great job getting us gussied up.  I highly recommend her if you’re in need of make up and hair on Maui.

Elsie is getting her eye makeup done.

Here’s me getting my makeup done. This is a great pic of my eyelash extensions.

Here’s a picture of my dress, shoes, and veil.

We don’t have pictures of the wedding at the church. The photographer said that it would take him a few weeks to get them to us and our friends took tons of pics at the wedding. If you’re on Facebook and have friended me, you can see tons of wedding pictures that my friends have taken.  This one is of me and Matt arriving at DT Flemming beach which is where we took our beach pictures after the wedding.  This beach was voted the best beach of 2006.  Very impressive scenery and waves.

Here’s a picture of me and my little junior bridesmaids.

Me and Matt walking on the beach.

A picture of me at the beach.   I’ll post more pictures of us at the church when I have it.

If you’re planning a destination wedding, Maui is the perfect place.  Lots of romantic locations like old churches and lovely beaches.  There are tons of wedding coordinators who can make the day run smoothly.  I utilized the wedding services offered by my photographer.  If you have your wedding at a resort, there is usually a coordinator offered as part of the package.  Our church,Maria Lanakila Catholic Church also had a coordinator that we worked with. Maria Lanakila is a 150 year old church that has so much character. We got lots of compliments on the location we picked out. You might have some reservations about getting married by a priest who doesn’t know you. But, it went much smoother than I thought. Father Gary make us feel very welcome and comfortable. His first words were, “I’m here to take care of you.” It was a bit warm in the church because there wasn’t any air conditioning. But I handed out little fans for your guests and everyone was ok.

The Plantation House, where we had our reception, had a wonderful events coordinator named Amber. I could have had my wedding coordinator plan the reception but I chose to do it myself because of cost. Everything went very smoothly at the reception. I’ll post about that next time because this post is getting unweldy. I’ll post more tomorrow:)
