Oh… so sore.

After our family Thanksgiving binge, I decided I was tired of being out of shape. I’m not overweight. Just soft and weak. So I decided that the next week, I would start going to the gym again. So… yesterday, I spent half an hour lifting weights (lunges, squats, dead rows, bicep/triceps curls) and a half hour on the elliptical trainer. I thought, this is great. I feel so alive. I need to work out for at least an hour every day that I have off. I’m doing something good for my body by doing this.

Today is another story. I am so sore, I can barely get out of my chair. I will take a bit of a walk later but I cannot go to the gym. I have to work tomorrow and have to be able to move quickly. Ugh… I took some motrin and hope that the soreness will go away. I will spend the day in a chair knitting. I do plan on going to the gym on Thursday though. I really want to get in shape and toned for 2009. I know this sounds like a New Years Resolution. I’m just trying to get a jump start on it.

My project for the day is my Feather and Fan shawl. I’m on round 180. Only 9 more rounds to go. I know that doesn’t sound like a lot but each round takes me about 2 hours. I am afraid to calculate how many stitches per round but it feels like it’s over 1000. For those of you who want to see what it looks like finished, check out Sabrina’s Feather and Fan. It’s her first shawl and it looks beautiful. What an impressive work of art. I keep thinking, “I’m so close to the end, I can’t give up now.”

Anyone going to Stitches West in Santa Clara, CA? I’m going! I booked my plane tickets, rented a car, and am staying with a friend of mine who lives up in the bay area. I’m super excited. My first Stitches event. I’ve been looking forward to this since I started knitting. I’m taking 3 classes. The Focus on Sox on Thursday, Stuck on Steeks on Friday, and Hairpin Lace on Sunday. Steeks and hairpin lace have scared me in the past and I’m determined to get over the fear! The Sox class is just because I like socks. If anyone wants to meet up at the event, let me know. I’d love to meet some knitters as I’m going alone as of right now.

Hmmm… I never thought I’d be a big sock knitter but I’ve completed more socks than sweaters at this point. They are also my most worn type of knit. Hopefully, I’ll have Feather and Fan finished soon so I can show a FO pic instead of long text posts.
