Vintage velvet is fini!

Filed under: Knitting — yarnnut @ 10:38 pm

I made my deadline. Thank goodness. I was getting worried. Here are the stats on this project.

Pattern: Vintage Velvet scarf from Scarf Style.

Yarn: Muench Touch Me in Deep Plum

Needles: Denise Interchangeables in size 8 and a cable needle from Bryspun.

Verdict: I love the yarn. It looked much more lush before I felted it in the washer/dryer. In fact I’m still deciding whether I like it better unfelted or not. But it’s felted so let’s not cry over spilt milk. The color is beautiful and the texture while knitting was springy and satisfying. I didn’t experience the worming that many people did. Here’s a picture for you to judge for yourself.

Here’s the scarf prefelting.

Pictures just do not do justice for this fine scarf. At least not my pictures. But you get the idea. Would I knit this scarf again??? Yes but it’s a bit monotonous.  It was basically a 1×1 ribbed scarf with a cable thrown in every few stitches.  Good for a beginner or if you want mindless projects for watching tv.  Time to wrap this baby up!

Knitting goals for next year:

  1.  Learn how to finish sweaters so they look more professional- I hate seaming/sewing so this will be quite the challenge.  I frequently have sweater pieces hanging out in my project bags/boxes.
  2. Do more cable projects.
  3. Knit another Charlotte’s Web or Flower Basket shawl.  I have yarn in my stash.

Merry Christmas everyone if I don’t get to post again until after the holiday!

  2. That’s very pretty! I just got my Touch Me Due in purple, so I’m glad to see what it will look like when it’s finished.

  3. Your scarf is really lovely! I just ordered some Touch Me in purple to make Vintage Velvet for my sister and plan to use Denise interchangables as well. I’m relieved to hear you didn’t have trouble with worming. Other reports almost scared me off.
